Trying to Beat the Heat

Trying to beat the heat
Trying to cut down on meat
At least trying to watch what I eat
Trying to avoid stinky feet
Trying to ward off bugs without using deet
Trying to stay cool and hug the shade
Trying not to feel overworked and underpaid
Trying not to let my enthusiasm fade

I had a long and lovely bath
Do you really want to hear about that?
The soap was scented with lavender and chamomile
It soothes and improves the way you feel
I stayed in the tub until all the water ran out
Like lying on the beach when the tide goes out

I showered off the soap suds from my lap
Then I crawled into bed to have a nap
I knew where it was I didn't need a map
